What Happened: Our platform experienced an intermittent service degradation. Our standard 503 error rate spiked from 0.01% to 5–10%, causing connectivity issues and "Service Unavailable" messages for affected users.
Root Cause: The issue was caused by an expired security certificate on a core service. The renewal notifications were unfortunately missed due to a recent configuration change.
Resolution & Prevention: Our infrastructure team deployed a new certificate to fully restore all services. To ensure this does not happen again, we have audited our alerting pipeline and are migrating these certificates to an automated auto-renewal system to completely eliminate manual dependencies.
